Ka-Noo-No Karnival Program

Ka-Noo-No Karnival Program

[Mystique Crew of Ka-Noo-No] Syracuse, NY: Publicity Committee of the Mystique Krewe, 1910. 8vo. Pictorial wraps. Light staining, slight tears along edges of wraps. Very scarce. OCLC locates 2 copies.

Program for a parade, concert, and other festivities modeled on the Mystique Krewes of New Orleans. The Syracuse Karnival was started in 1905 when local businessmen realized their local state fair wasn't getting enough play. Pictures of 15 floats with geographic themes - including Siam, Germany, China, South America, Africa (like those are each just one thing), and Roseland. Also includes photos of dignitaries in costumes and the King and Queen of the 1909 Karnival.

"For your delight, electric lamps will glitter, the dance will whirl, bands will play, horses will prance, and imagination run riot."

Thanks, Syracuse.
