Handbound in vellum with raised cords and red leather spine label, gilt stamped title and device. Marbled endpapers and silk ribbon bookmark. Front board slightly bowed; overall near fine. Limited to 75 copies only.

"To one who is about to behold the Daughter of the Sun, she who is learned in magical lore, and

who comes forth from the hidden places; you shall go as a free man into the House of Circe, not bound by the fetters of night."

First English translation of Giordano's treatise on memory magic. Originally published in Paris in 1582, this volume unveils mysteries of planetary arcana in the form of a conversational narrative as opposed to a more traditional, procedural grimoire, making it unique among esoteric texts of its time. Unfortunately, this ruse did not spare Bruno who, in 1600, was burned at the stake by the Inquisition.
